Review: Thrillers need to evoke excitement and suspense and engage the audience. The film, Butterfly, begins on a regular yet promising note with Vyjayanthi’s triumphant court scene and happy family, the camaraderie between the sisters, and Geetha and Viswa’s relationship. After establishing the locale – Butterfly Nest gated community and other characters at its own pace, the plot tries to metamorphose into a thriller with the missing kids. While it holds attention till this point, the events that follow and the remainder of the story will test your patience. Once ‘Operation butterfly’ starts, Geetha turns a magnet to all the problems in the world, and there is no respite. Everybody she meets has an ulterior motive or is filled with misogyny. The length of the movie, too many challenges, and lack of engaging narrative make this 2 hours 16 minutes movie a frustrating watch.
